Our Story

The purpose of the fund is to provide financial and mentoring assistance to young tennis players in need.

The initial specific purpose of the HWK Fund is to offer a young person the opportunity to start a racquet stringing business to enable them to learn the basics of business start-up, development, purchasing and inventory management, accounting, and the value of exceptional customer service.  The Fund will donate a stringing machine to a worthy recipient and arrange for the mentoring of proper stringing techniques and overall core business skills.  Upon graduation from the program, the recipient will be given a portable stringing machine to take to college to continue the business if they so desire.

The HWK Award Fund is dedicated to the memory of Holly W. Kempner, a life-long tennis fan and a strong and positive presence in the lives of so many.  She espoused the core values of the this fund and lived her life based on those values.
